Users of the Vancouver Island Spine trail do so at entirely their own risk. In general the trail is through wilderness, sometimes mountainous terrain or water crossings, and is suited to experienced backcountry travellers. VISTA, the Vancouver Island Spine Trail Association takes no responsibility for trail users. Trail access or non-trail passage is not always assured; please be considerate of landowners or licensees, including First Nations interest, and leave no trace of your passage.
While parts of this description are preliminary, VISTA would welcome comments from hikers of individual segments of the trail. We look forward to this trail being well used in future and we want input from hikers and other trail users.
VISTA is a nonprofit, charitable organization committed to the ideal of a long-distance trail the length of Vancouver island. Naturally we are interested in financial support and the philosophical backing of trail users, communities en route, and the media.
