Lake Cowichan Community Day

The Cowichan Lake Retreads hiking club organized the community day at Saywell Park in the Town of Lake Cowichan. The event started with speeches from Town Councillor Jayne Ingram and Regional District Chairperson Gerry Giles about the importance of trails for the community and plans for the expansion of the Trans Canada (TC) Trail system that will soon connect Victoria with Departure Bay, Nanaimo on a 200km system via Lake Cowichan. We hiked along the new TC Trail route on the north side of the Cowichan River. The hiking club hosts regular trips through the local recreation centre.
