Clover Point to Ogden Point (3.8km)

The Trail

This is an urban paved trail along the  shoreline, bordered by low bluffs. It has  multiple access points along the city streets of Victoria.    Some access points have sloped laneways suitable for wheelchair access whereas other access points have only stairs.  All water crossings are bridged; at Ogden Point there is a breakwater extending approximately 700m into the ocean. Most of the trail is a wide paved parkway. Surrounding grassy areas may be wet and muddy during the rainy season.  The edges of the bluffs are bound by low fences and users are urged to stay back to preserve the vegetation and prevent erosion.  Markers every 500 meters show distances from the Clover Point Parking area.  This part of the trail is coincident with the TransCanada Trail or The Great Trail.

There are multiple shopping and restaurant options starting at Ogden Point Breakwater Restaurant. This is an urban trail with no camping along the route. There is one set of public washrooms along this stretch of trail. Benches and covered tabled areas along the route are numerous. Swimmers may want to go in at Steve Fonyo beach where the rocky shoreline has a sandy stretch of beach. The first 1.6 km is an off-leash dog park, so Fido will love this trail.  There are dog waste bags and garbage cans provided at multiple stations on route.
