Stay in Courtenay or Cumberland, or drive up early Sunday morning.

Gear List

  • 3 layers of upper body clothing – base, insulating and wind/water resistant (Gore-tex)
  • 2 layers of lower body – base/insulating and wind/water resistant
  • Toque, warm gloves/mitts
  • Backcountry skis with metal edges
  • Climbing skins
  • Boots, thermal socks and poles
  • Avalanche transceiver, probe and shovel
  • 1.5 litre+ of water
  • Lunch and snacks
  • Sun glasses and/or goggles
  • Face mask if windy
  • Blister kit (moleskin, duct tape) if you are prone to blisters or using boots for the first time (rentals)
  • Medications (e.g., asthma kit)
